The Ahwazi Human Rights Organization welcomes the resolution issued by the European Parliament concerning human rights violations in Iran, which clearly condemned the systematic repression and grave abuses suffered by the peoples of Iran, particularly protesters, women, and ethnic minorities.
The organization values the European Parliament’s emphasis on the seriousness of the crimes committed by the Iranian authorities, which may amount to crimes against humanity, as well as its call for these violations to be independently documented by the United Nations in preparation for holding those responsible accountable before international justice.
The organization also underscores the importance of the resolution’s provisions regarding:
-
Demanding the release of all political detainees and prisoners of conscience.
-
Condemning arbitrary detention, torture, and enforced disappearance.
-
Expanding targeted sanctions against those responsible for repression.
-
Holding the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps centrally responsible for human rights violations.
The Ahwazi Human Rights Organization stresses that ethnic minorities—foremost among them the Ahwazi Arab people—have been and continue to be among the groups most affected by systematic discrimination and repression. It calls for the issues of these peoples to receive special attention within European and international institutions.
The organization renews its call on the international community to move from condemnation to practical measures to protect victims and to guarantee the right of non-Persian peoples in Iran to freedom, dignity, and self-determination.
